In this short video, Matt Cutts from Google explains how Google’s search results work. He gives some tips on controlling what Google displays for your website.
Thanks to Garry Conn for finding this, and Google’s recently released Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide. If you want to learn about SEO, you could do worse than reading what Google themselves have to say!

Nice video. Thanks for sharing it with those of us who may not be regular readers or Garys. I also hadn’t heard about the PDF G released. I’m grabbing it now, I hope it has some good tips.

Thanks for sharing that. I wish Matt would have talked about WordPress snippets – they seem hard to manage!

Good video. it would be good if someone collected all these videos of Matt in one place as there doesn’t seem to be a centralized place where they reside.

it would be even better if someone composed a video of all the import facts from all of his videos.

Very helpful. As jack said, it would be great if there would be a composed video of all the import facts from all of his videos. The understading od how to search engine works is very impotant for promoting a blog or a website.

I found the snippet stuff really interesting because this something I have battling with recently.
On a side note, the audio quality is really bad, you think Google could at least put up a decent Youtube video.

That’s super, but there is such a think as black propaganda. Google isn’t _really_ going to tell you how to game their engine, which is what _all_ commercial webmasters want to do.

Hey Matt, how about telling us how exactly the algorithm works?
