If you’re just getting started with affiliate marketing, ClickBank is one of the best affiliate networks to sign up with. Their business model is quite different from that of the big networks like Commission Junction, which means that they can be much more relaxed about who they let in to their network.

The big affiliate networks make their money by charging their advertisers fees for accessing their network. Since most of them have a relatively small number of advertisers, that makes them vulnerable to conditions imposed by the advertisers. For instance, an advertiser can decide that they won’t work with anyone outside the USA, or that they won’t consider advertising on sites with fewer than 50,000 page views a month or whatever. Fair enough, even Google Adwords lets you choose which sites you don’t want your ads to appear on.

ClickBank, on the other hand, doesn’t charge anyone anything until they have the buyer’s cash in hand. At that point, they deduct their fees and share what’s left over between the publisher (the seller) and the affiliate. Since they’re not charging the publisher up front, and since they have well over 10,000 publishers, they don’t need to be picky about who they do business with.

What this boils down to is that you don’t need to prove that you have a website and 5,000 unique visitors a month to get a ClickBank affiliate account. All you need is to fill in a relatively simple form which tells ClickBank where to send your money.

One of the simplest and cheapest ways to get started with affiliate marketing is by setting up a blog on Blogger.com and reviewing a Clickbank product. As with many online strategies, this one depends largely on your being able to drive a stream of traffic to your review site. Without traffic, you’ll make no money.

I’ve found a terrific series of 7 short videos which explain exactly how to set up this kind of review blog, and how to drive traffic to it. There’s 85 minutes of video, and no throat-clearing or time-wasting. The traffic-building techniques you’ll learn from this video course will work for any website, so it’s a great foundation for any online business. If you can’t make money online using these methods, you may as well go home.

You can get the videos at www.CBRevelation.com. I’m selling them for $7.00, which I reckon is way less than they’re worth.

I agree clickbank is very nice. Unfortunately many of the sales pages they (or their publishers) offer put me of as a customer.
So I take only those I like and send my readers there. But that leaves out quite a few.

What is a realistic revenue that one could expect? Of course results will vary, but what do the “heavy hitters” actually earn? I don’t have any sense of scope or perspective on this.

    Kermit,
The heavy hitters are generally reluctant to share their actual earnings, unless they’re punting some new product.

    Hi,
    I’ve promoted Clickbank for awhile.
The system is good but the way to get money is the cheque only which is not convenience.
I prefer to use Paypal by the way.

P.S. I’ll try to use Paydot.
