Blogrush goes live

By Derrick | September 15, 2007

As you can see in the sidebar, I’ve signed up for John Reese’s BlogRush Blog Syndication Network. Like all the best ideas, it seems really simple and obvious in retrospect.

It’s easy enough to get an RSS feed from, say, Google Blog Search, and have it appear in your sidebar – if you scroll down to the “Online Business news” section in my sidebar, you’ll see that that’s exactly what I’ve done. But to turn it into a networking system, where your blog headlines could potentially appear on thousands of blogs, takes a talent for spotting the interconnections.

John Reese, of course, is the guy who made internet marketing history by selling a million dollars worth of his “Traffic Secrets” course in one day. He’s also credited with inventing the term “Virtual Real Estate”. Now he’s turned to the blogosphere – and the results will be interesting, to say the least.

Have a look at John’s blog for some of the background to his launch.

BlogRush displays a little widget on your blog, which lists 5 headlines from other blogs on the same topic as yours. Every time the widget is loaded, one of your latest blog posts will show on someone else’s widget.

You get rewarded (by extra distribution of your posts) for contributions to the network – such as people signing up through your widget.

If you’re looking for more traffic for your blog (and who isn’t?), give it a try. Like all the best things in life, it’s free.

    Hi,

I see an incoming link from you at Linky Love, but I cannot find its origin here, please leave a comment on my blog and help me out, as there is no reason why I shouldn’t give you the Linky Love back :-)

I have used blogrush for a few days as well. However, I had absolutely no effect from it! Although I did earn credits, and my page was shown, I did not get any clicks. Since I don’t really like to look of it, I decided to remove it from my blog…

I believe that BlogRush was designed more to support themselves rather than bloggers who use the system.

They could at least make the badge design less… ugly and huge.

Sorry to have to comment here, but you have comments turned off for the “James Brausch Special” post where this should have gone. I ordered James’ software bundle, but didn’t get a download link. I’ve tried contacting James at his PayPal address and his various published support addresses to no avail. So I’m wondering how my software will be delivered. How did you get the software when you purchased this bundle? – Dan

Nevermind. One of James’ staff replied to me just moments ago. They’re sending out a physical piece of paper with the download URLs to all buyers of the Boca Conversations bundle. Crisis averted. – Dan

I think this is a great idea as it gets you more eyes on your posts like you stated, but the competition and content overload might shy people away if they think they’re helping their competitors out

I agree it’s a good idea, but I also agree with the previous commenter that the badge is too large.
I will keep an eye on it and see if they improve.
thx for the tips, I am thinking of checking out some of the software on other posts as well.

Your suggestion proves to be a very good idea. I have a blog also. Hopefully I can utilize to improve further.
